I make the pendant entirely by hand from the finest porcelain. I use a variety of mark making techniques to design and shape the pod before leaving to dry. Once dry the piece goes for its first kiln firing (bisque) up to 1000c. After the piece has cooled it is firm enough to handle and I layer subtle washes of various colours and glazes. The piece then goes back in the kiln for a second firing up to 1300c. This permanently sets the colours and glazes. Once cooled again, I add the gold luster to highlight the detail and fire once more to 150c.
